Amy Ford Souders
Amy Ford Souders is a founding member of Cornerstone, bringing with her more than fifteen years of legislative, consulting and political experience. Amy focuses on public health, healthcare, and other public interest issues with a track record of effectively adding important issues to the public agenda and for dramatically advancing client funding and networks.
Amy played a critical role in developing a thriving immunization coalition of over 150 members that includes advocacy groups, academics, professional associations, and vaccine manufacturers. Her work directly resulted in appropriations report language and a significant increase in funding for the coalition’s program of interest. Amy’s efforts on behalf of the disability community have lead to increased funding on one priority program by 50 percent, as well as addition of centers of excellence throughout the country.
Prior to joining Cornerstone, Amy spent four years as an associate at two well respected lobbying firms where she was responsible for all aspects of client service and business development. She also worked two years at a government contracting and consulting firm specializing in U.S. General Services Administration contracts.
Preceding her move to D.C., Amy was deputy treasurer for a successful U.S. Senate campaign. In this capacity, she was responsible for building grassroots support for the candidate while ensuring that the campaign complied with Federal Election Commission regulations. She has aided political campaigns including that of a mayor, a U.S. Representative, a U.S. Senator, and the President of the United States.
Amy earned a B.A. in History from Marquette University in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. She is an active member of the Les Aspin Center National Board of Visitors at Marquette University, a past President of the Illinois Group, and a member of the Illinois State Society.
