Chris' BioChris Champion joined Cornerstone Government Affairs as a vice president in 2015. He previously held the position of policy director for Governor Phil Bryant, where he oversaw the Governor’s legislative agenda and advised him on state and federal issues.
Prior to becoming the policy director, Chris’s portfolio included advising the Governor on energy, transportation, agriculture, environment, marine resources, and fish and wildlife related issues. Chris was the Governor’s designee to the Tennessee Valley Authority Regional Energy Resource Council, Delta Regional Authority, Appalachian Regional Commission, and the Southern States Energy Board.
As a member of Governor Bryant’s policy team, Chris oversaw the efforts of the Energy Works reform package in 2013 and was a member of the team that helped pass the historic Education Works agenda. In addition to his work with the Legislature, Chris acted as the key point of contact for various executive agencies reporting to the Governor.
Chris has been involved with a variety of political campaigns on the local, state and federal level and served on the Professional Resource Team at the 2012 and 2016 Republican National Conventions.
A graduate of the University of Mississippi, Chris was Special Assistant to United States Senator Roger Wicker in Washington, D.C. before returning to his home state. Since returning to Mississippi, he has been recognized as a Top 50 Under 40 businessperson by the Mississippi Business Journal and is a member of the Mississippi Economic Council’s Leadership Mississippi Class.
An Eagle Scout, Chris is the past president of the Washington, D.C. Ole Miss Alumni Association and member of Century Club Charities of Mississippi. Chris and his wife Olivia reside in Jackson, MS, with their children Amelia and Worth.
